You don’t have to go very far to learn more about this area’s humble beginnings. Once known as a producer of indigo and cane sugar, New Smyrna Beach, Florida now has a much more relaxed way of life. While city leaders and residents alike are proud of the rich history in this region, New Smyrna Beach is an inspiring community that’s staying current with the times. The beaches are filled with hard-packed, feet satisfying, soft white sand against the Atlantic Ocean in the horizon, with an occasional dolphin or right whale splashing in the distance. This beautiful beach town spreads over 17 miles of beaches that are super easy to access. Unlike most beach towns, driving on the beach is permitted on the Volusia County beach from sunrise to sunset. The sunrises are breath taking and a great way to start the day while driving down the beach to witness them with the whole family.

 

 

 

Activities are often in demand in NSB, with surfing and Stand Up Paddle boarding being two of the local popular activities, with fishing not far behind. Golf and pickle ball are also some of our local’s favorite things to do.

 

 

The town of New Smyrna Beach is a great place to live year round or even a place to consider for a vacation home when it is freezing up north, because let’s face it, our winters here usually involve flip flops and shorts. It’s natural beauty, visual satisfying scenery, outdoor attractions, family owned businesses, and locally owned restaurants are sure to please any out of towner. It is home to more than 300 species of birds, manatees, dolphins, turtles, gators and more. New Smyrna Beach is also home to the Turtle Mound National Historical Site. In addition, close to the lighthouse is the famous “disappearing island,” which is really a sandbar that seems to vanish when the tide rises. Many locals comment “It’s nice and quiet, not crowded”
