Lindley’s has been a popular gardener’s paradise since 1972 where it was originally located where Home Depot is on 44. Locally owned and family operated, Lindley’s exchanged hands in the early 2000’s when Debbie Pell and her daughters imagined sharing their passion & love for gardening with others in our community. Shortly before the housing market crash in 2008 the Pell family decided to re locate due to impending construction near-by. They found a perfect location on the well known and iconic Canal street in our beloved town of New Smyrna Beach. “Lindley’s has thrived here on West Canal ever since.” says Debbie Pell.

Today you can find a vast amount of seeds and bulbs, edibles such as veggies and herbs, annuals, perennials, ground grasses and covers, vines and shrubs, succulents and cactus, tropical and local plants, and so much more. At any given time of the year, there are anywhere from 14-16 employees working there and they are just as passionate about gardening as the Pells eager to stop and help with your questions when you need them.
“A big part of what we do is education” Jenni Pell continued “If you are having poor results with your gardening efforts you will eventually give up. We spend time talking with our customers about what might have happened, how it happened, and how to prevent it from happening again. We want nothing more than for the community to be as passionate and fulfilled by gardening as we are.” Jenni Pell is her mom’s business partner and right hand on the daily. Jenni pursued her love of horticulture and business receiving her degree in landscape nursery management. Jenni was the first person to greet me with a warm welcome when I arrived. She was friendly and immediately asked what she could due to help me.
The third lady of Lindley’s, Lauren Pell earned a bachelor’s in environmental science and a master’s at the University of Florida. She is currently a science teacher but Debbie and Jenni still considers her part of the business no matter where she is in the world. They still hold a strong mother daughter bond and Lauren often consults with Debbie in regard to merchandising with the family business. Lauren loves to travel and help educate others. She has lived everywhere from Maui, Hawaii to Quito Edcuador to now LA.
In 2018, Lindley’s Purchused and expanded into a neighbouring property which serves as a trial garden to introduce new plants. On that same property, Lindley’s constructed a 1200 square foot shade house which carries a huge selection of house plants, tropicals and as many exotic plant species as they could find.

Now a days this amazing trio has created an inspiring locally owned family business that has flourished and continues to grow just like the plants they nourish. With the outside area sitting on 3/4 arces and the showroom inside close to 3000 square feet made this a pleasure to walk through and learn.
